Reworking that ending ripple, editing in new backdrop right before the green spires part and fixing up a few things in the begging. See what you think also about the transition part in the beginning.

Guys I can totally do this.
Just trust me.
I think it's 100x better. I figured out After Effects tonight, at least all I need to make my animation work. I filled the section between ice and the flower finale with this, and I'm really excited about it. After I finish this (I really don't think it will take long, I wish I'd known this from the start), I'm going to finish up the finale for next week, and then the final cut for the test.
Also that background color was just the default; I'm not using it.

My Progress
Sorry I wasn't at last meeting. I really didn't feel very good and I'm not still not quite over it. Anyway, for all intensive purposes I'm pretty much done. I'm reanimating the ending and adding and underside to shadow to a few more scenes.

Dunno how many of you are reading this
I'm working super hard, and as of tonight have a total of 55 seconds DONE. There are some parts that I could go back to and improve, but if need be I'll leave well enough alone. Can't wait to see you guys this meeting, I hope that my work will be a pleasant surprise this time!

Thanks Hasan, I'll try those things. The reason I haven't really been working on the backgrounds much is Corel really lags bad if the brush size is bigger than 40. I think it might be because I'm working at such a high resolution, but I'd rather spend more time on slowly building the background than making the resolution smaller. :)

post!
nice to see people using this blog like it was supposed to be used. allison, your stuff is looking a ba-zillion times better. you background might look better either complementary to the fire ball thing-ee or i was thinking a soft yellow, soft enough to push it back in space. maybe your background can be that cloudy design you had in that test that you didnt like. it could be very soft clouds cause your part is so soft you need something that screams soft and gentle. but that fire is the awesome, and until you change that background, its gonna be had to see how cool the animation is, when its sitting on that dry blue curtain looking thing. even making it flat and not a curtain would be better. maybe...

More progress
I know it seems like it's going slow, but the huge screens of red and orange are extremely time consuming. I will have more for the meeting (I promise)

Newspaper Article
Carpenter forwarded me this email:
Hello,
We are running a story in Lake Erie Life Style magazine about the upcoming collaboration between your department and the Erie Philharmonic. Could you please send us a still image or two of the animation to use in the magazine. We will give a photo credit to the university or you. Sorry, but I would need this as soon as possible to meet our deadline. Look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Mary Solberg
So tonight we should each find an image from our respective animations and send it to me (introducing_emy@yahoo.com) and I'll foward it on to her and Carpenter.
